Klonopin is a prescription medication marketed by Roche. It is a member of the class of medications called benzodiazepines, which decrease abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Klonopin is taken by mouth and comes in two different forms of tablets: the traditional form that is swallowed whole, and another orally disintegrating tablet. This prescription is taken anywhere from one to three times per day, with or without food, according to the patient’s needs and doctor recommendations. Because Klonopin can be habit-forming, patients should never take more than the dose currently prescribed to them by their doctor and it should be taken exactly and only as often as directed. These side effects include, but are not limited to, rashes, difficulty breathing, drowsiness, muscle or joint pain, frequent urination, and hoarseness.
